Mod dresses and madness

I've been cheating on my blog. whew! I said it.....my new love is Tumblr..I think I love it a bit too much. But I'm not going to neglect this little blog any more. I'm not sure that anyone really reads it anyways:) but just in case, I've been super busy so I haven't had time to update.
Anyways, back to some trends....I know its far away, but the industry never sleeps, so for Spring 2011 I'm seeing the 50's trend being taken further from this fall, plus some 70's bohemian coming back, and my favorite, 60's mod dresses and lots of lace and retro designs!
I might pull these out before their proper time.....

Yes, you are correct Mr. Wang

WHY???

I just don't think it's necessary for her to be so beautiful. I think that's something we can all agree on. It just doesn't need to happen, that's all. The only thing I would have changed about the outfit is the purse. It seems distracting to me. I would have chosen a sleeker clutch. But what the heck, she could be wearing a fanny pack (which are coming back, I know, I know..Take it up with Ms. Furstenburg herself and let me know how that goes for you...) and still look stunning. Sheesh...

Anna Sui: Fashion's mad scientist

Hermes Cuff

Investment piece! haha, but seriously, I would wear this every day of my life...so I would pay it off in 3.5647 years. Worth it, right?

Good Fellas

I love rings. I can say that some of my favorite pieces of jewelry are my rings. (Although I seem to lose them the most!) They are so easy to throw on, not fussy, and update a look in seconds. It's really easy to over do the cocktail ring accessory though (because they're so fun!). Try to stay in the 1-2 ring range otherwise it's just too much.

Isabel Marant Fall 2010

Some of my favorite looks from Isabel's Fall 2010 collection. It's so fun! I love the girly rocker appeal, plus it has subtle hints of 50's fashion using polka dotted scarves and breezy shirts.

Style Solution: Brighten a dark tone outfit

One of my favorite things to do is mix in a bright pop of color with a usually dark fall/winter outfit. The problem we face with accessories and shoes is that we don't want to take away from the outfit (that is, unless the outfit is a total and complete disaster in which this would just make it ten times worse...let's not let that happen shall we?), but since the clutch is usually smaller, a pop of color would not take away from the look, but complete it as a whole. In any case, we want our looks to be surprising (in a good way!) and this is the perfect way to highlight a dark toned fall/winter outfit.

Zac Posen Fall 2010

Can we just all agree that Zac posen is a genius? Ok great.
Velvet, fur, floral prints. I'm like a kid in a candy store.

50's Cat Eye Sunglasses

We all can admit that Oliva Palermo's style is impeccable, and a while ago I saw photos of her wearing Wunderkind's cat-eye sunglasses. I didn't know exactly how to react to these since they are so out there, but at second glance, I fell in love with them! What an easy way to bring the 50's trend back! (Yes, it's back! Thank you Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton!) Anyway, what are your thoughts on these glasses? Would you wear them?

Funny Face

I got so excited about J.crew's fall line up that I forgot to tell you about the models' brightly stained lip pallet! Most of the models are wearing "Funny Face" from NARS. Don't you love? I might have to get my hands on this color soon!

Lookbook LOVE

I cannot get enough of this falls lookbook from J.Crew! All of the yummy knits, fur accessories, military appeal and glamorous jewels presented in a mix and match fashion is exactly what I love to see! The collection is full of treasures; lots of lace and fluff and extra luxe all wrapped up in a girlish take on the military trend. I can't get enough of it!! The creative director, Jenna, is a genius. The story behind the line is "Girl-scout-camp-military" All of the looks are very much mixed textures. So amazing.

My New Obsession: Animal Rings!

Here's my new little guy! (He almost feels like a pet!) Ok so I am totally obsessing over big animal jewelry lately. I know I'm a little late for this trend...it's been around for a little while, but I didn't like how childish it looked--until now. This owl ring is from Forever21 and I just had to buy it! We all know that I L-O-V-E chunky jewelry, but I absolutely adore chunky rings (I don't know why, but it makes your hands look so small!) This ring was about $5 too! So cheap, and a much more thrifty alternative to some of TopShop's animal rings (which were the ones I liked before I saw this one!)

Style Solution: Scarf and Tank

If there's one style that I could picture myself wearing year round, its pairing a scarf with a cami. Especially now that we're heading into fall. To keep camis around as long as possible, I add a scarf so that I don't look like June in September. Even in the winter just add a blazer or a cardigan.
It's a staple outfit, and so easy to put together.

Neon Paisley Pom Pom Silk Square Scarf, $25 Monsoon.co.uk
Raw Applique Swing Top, $70 Topshop.com
This trend can also be worn for a night time look. Try to stay away from cotton scarves and go for more of a sheer fabric. Paired with a sequin top and a dark wash jean. I mean, come on. Am I crazy, or would that be so cute??

Evening Horizon Scarf, $18 Modcloth.com
Cream Droplet Bead Vest, $87 Missselfridge.com

Thigh high

The heels are here to stay! These towering boots are a major trend across the board this season. And they aren't just making an appearance on the runway. No, no. These boots are going mainstream. Coming in all shapes and materials (suede, leather, etc.) , you are sure to find this trend super accessible.
